Twilight, online course (Zoom link will be provided)

This is a short, live, online Zoom course which will help you to develop your planning in D&T and create quality lessons and units. You will cover how to contextualise learning and develop rich opportunities for your pupils. The session will additionally highlight best practices, using acclaimed D&T planning resource 'Projects on a Page'.  There are 21 planners that cover Food and Nutrition, Textiles, Structures, Mechanisms, Electronics and Programming and Control. It is a flexible scheme of work for D&T that helps schools to deliver a breath of excellent primary design and technology. As this is being delivered live, there will be an opportunity to ask questions, interact with your trainer and get support.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop your own planning in D&T
  • Contextualise learning and develop rich opportunities for pupils, avoiding a 'making by numbers' approach of D&T teaching
  • Understand D&T planning from long, mid to short term
  • Understand how 'Projects on a Page' can be used to tailor D&T at your primary school and to meet the needs of your pupils

By participating in this course, you will learn how to:

  • Effectively plan and develop lessons in D&T
  • Use Projects on a Page as a planning tool to develop a sequence of lessons
  • Ensure progression through the key stages
  • Contextualise learning
  • Ensure the D&T ‘Essentials’ are being delivered

This is an online course. In order to achieve the greatest outcome, maximise engagement with our trainer and gain the desired skills from this course, we require you to have your camera switched on throughout the entire session. We encourage discussion and are more than happy to answer questions during the session. Please note, the trainer may kindly request delegates mute themselves for short periods of times throughout the training session.
