Meet your Trainers

Matt Shields - Education Solutions Engineer

Matt earned his master’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia and worked as an engineer before moving into education.  Matt taught high school and college for 16 years while also earning a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction.  He designed, built, and ran the engineering department for Charlottesville City Schools for seven years before joining the education team at PTC.  Matt is devoted to sharing his love of STEM and project-based learning with fellow educators.

Drew Bennett - Education Solutions Engineer

Drew Bennett is an Education Solutions Engineer at PTC focused on enabling students and educators utilizing Onshape. Drew earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Maine and has worked in the industry as a CNC machinist, CMM operator, and product designer. He is a certified Onshape professional who has a deep passion for technology and education and enjoys volunteering in youth robotics competitions to teach students about CAD and manufacturing.
