Careers in the creative, design and engineering industries
This set of resources provides schools with information to help students understand the parameters and make the choices that will help take them towards their chosen career.
It includes a four-minute video and PowerPoint full of information, links and engaging content, challenging students to consider their career paths and the routes to successful, appropriate employment in the creative, design and engineering industries. It is aimed at students considering option choices for GCSE and those already doing GCSE subjects.
The video can be used as an introduction to a lesson on careers in the sector or in a year group assembly to help capture the imagination of students and encourage them to ask questions and investigate further. It may also be used as a prompt for discussion in a staff training session and as an introduction to a design and technology lesson linking transferable skills to future opportunities in the world of work.
The presentation contains much of the content in the video but can be delivered at a pace to suit classes in school. It also contains more detailed information and has links to other media on YouTube and elsewhere. Teachers are encouraged to select appropriate content and edit it to meet the needs of their students.
