Speaking and listening through D&T projects 3. Project structure and delivery
Ages 11-14 Years
First published 2014
This programme, supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, aims to improve the speaking and listening skills of Key Stage 3 students through delivery of a D&T project. For full details of the project go to the Improving speaking and listening skills through D&T projects page.
This outlines the characteristics of the project and how delivery might be structured in school, including analysis of the design brief, preparing for clients, interviewing, ideas generation and selecting the best solution, and presenting final ideas to a client. Also included are a teacher presentation, lesson plans, worksheets and feedback sheets and a copy of ‘A day in the life of...’ presentation which will support the development of students’ designs.
Some resources included are from the previous National Curriculum and contain examples and information on levels that are no longer applied in the 2014 curriculum. However, these remain useful tools for teachers to establish baselines and progress in students’ skills levels.
