This resource highlights career opportunities in the textiles and fashion industries, with a focus on how colour is widely used across a range of careers. There are links to maths, art and science, and also to business & enterprise and sustainability and geography.
It includes PowerPoint presentations appropriate for years 7, 8 and 9 looking at an introduction to types of fibres, using CAD and linking to the work of an artist, and fabric construction, as preparation for GCSE option choices and a future potential career.
The aim of the resource is to challenge student perceptions of, and show the range of careers in textiles and fashion sector. There are links to case studies and signposts towards further studies and the qualifications needed for courses. It will also help to improve teacher knowledge of opportunities within the industry and encourage them to keep up to date.
