This poster and support pack show a range of techniques and includes five templates and full instructions on making the teaching aids and the effect each will have. The teaching aids can be assembled quickly and easily so that children can see 3D examples in action and investigate how they work. Some of these techniques will also be useful for teachers of younger/older children. There are also teacher tips and advice for teaching this practical task.
The pack includes technical descriptions of different types of movement and how levers and linkages transfer this. Children need to have an understanding of the principles involved before designing and making their own products incorporating levers and linkages.
The classroom poster displays a range of levers and linkages suitable for work in Key Stage 2.
