Design and Technology ‘Clickable’ Progression Framework – KS1 and 2
Years 5-11
First published 2016
The D&T Progression Framework was developed by the Design and Technology Association in collaboration with the National Curriculum Expert Group for D&T and is available as a pdf version for KS1 and 2 and for KS1, 2 and 3.
This ‘clickable’ version of the framework for D&T at Key Stages 1 and 2 links to the Association’s popular Projects on a Page scheme of work. It extends the original framework by enabling subject leaders and classroom teachers to click on particular expectations that need further exemplification. Clicking on a link causes a ‘vignette’ to pop up which provides a commentary on what each expectation means, with examples of what children might say or do to meet the expectation and/or how teachers might support children’s learning in the classroom.
As a whole, the clickable progression framework is intended to help subject teachers and classroom teachers get a better understanding of age-related standards in design and technology, thereby helping to maximise children’s attainment and progress in the subject.
You can use the links at the foot of the pages to navigate to the section you wish to see exemplified, then click on the highlighted expectations to view the vignettes.
This clickable version of the framework has been endorsed by the National Curriculum Expert Group for D&T.
