A set of PowerPoint presentations and a classroom display poster which show a range of simple joining and fastening techniques with fabrics. The presentations cover tools and equipment for sewing, choosing fabrics, and different stitching and other methods of joining fabrics together. This is suitable for teaching at Key Stage 1 and the presentations come in teachers’ and children’s versions. The teachers’ version contains tips for teacher and plenty of colourful slides with prompt questions and step by step guidance on the methods for different types of joining as well as applying decoration. It can be used as a practical workshop for staff, making up examples as teaching aids to use with children or to print off as a booklet for support staff. You might choose to use it directly or adapt it appropriately to use with children in the classroom. The poster makes suggestions for how children might join their fabrics together with illustrations showing the different methods.
This range of resources designed to help with some of the technical aspects of design and technology. They come in a variety of forms including PowerPoints and posters. Some are designed for teachers’ own use whilst others are suitable for children.
