The DfE announce that teacher trainee bursaries are to be reinstated.

This announcement from the DfE this morning is both significant and timely. D&T has been one of the worst recruited of all subjects over the last seven years or longer. The slight upturn seen in 2020 was clearly a COVID induced blip that returned to normal low levels in 2021.

We have campaigned hard to return the bursary, and we are in no way claiming that the bursary of £15K has been reinstated as a direct result of the petition organised and signed by so many last year. This will not solve the recruitment crisis in D&T, and this area requires further work, but it can only help!
