Ofsted are currently recruiting for a Subject Lead in design and technology.
Published 27th April 2020
HMI Subject Leads have a dual role, spending half their time working in their subject, and half inspecting across a broad range of school settings.
Ofsted are looking for Subject Leads with sector-leading expertise of curriculum and advances in their specialist subjects. They’ll need to lead work to promote knowledge and insight within Ofsted, the wider education sector and across a range of stakeholders.
A big part of the role will be training other inspectors to establish and maintain a high level of inspection expertise in design and technology. Another key part is working with researchers to publish reports on the subject.
The role also includes leading inspections in various settings, gathering and analysing evidence through inspection, and reporting objectively on standards and effectiveness.
The closing date for applications is 20 May, and further details about the role and how to apply can be found here.
Ofsted hopes to appoint a candidate when they become available after serving out their current notice period. The role is currently held by HMI Brian Oppenheim, who is due to retire within the next year.
