New platform launches search to find the next generation of toy design talent
Published 27th January 2021
Launching today, a new digital platform Untitled, part of TLNT Holdings, is hosting an open brief sponsored by the Design and Technology Association (D&T Association) and Mojo Nation which challenges young people between 11-18 to come up with the next hit collectable toy range.
Each submission will be reviewed by a representative from Mojo Nation (a creative platform dedicated to toy design and accelerating opportunities for inventors of all levels) and the D&T Association. Five selected creators will then win a chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of top toy brands Dragon’s Den style with the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality.
Untitled provides a rare opportunity to directly connect young creatives with key players in the toy industry and will support the development of their design and making skills, problem-solving and innovation in the fast-moving design industry.
The creative industry is booming in the UK, adding over £100bn to the economy and employing 2 million people according to the Creative Industries Council. This will be the first of many exciting partner briefs from Untitled which will be opened up to young people in 2021, wherever they are in the world, in the hope of inspiring and empowering the next generation of creatives.
Clare McKeeve, CEO, TLNT Holdings said: “Untitled was borne out of our desire to inspire and enable young creatives in exciting real-world opportunities. Through enabling the next generation of talent to hone their skills and give them access to unrivalled industry experts, we aim to instil and heighten their creative passion. We cannot wait to see the fresh perspectives on this thrilling brief”
Ryan Ball, Director of Education, Design & Technology Association: We are really excited to be partnering with Mojo Nation on this Untitled brief. We feel really strongly that contextualising design and technology is a fantastic way to bring content alive. This brief brings with it some fantastic opportunities and we are really looking forward to seeing students' D&T skills and creativity shine!
Billy Langsworthy, Co-Founder, Mojo Nation “We’re delighted to help Untitled and the Design & Technology Association with this exciting new initiative. Hopefully, it can kick-start an interest in toy design among the participants and help usher in an exciting new generation of design talent.”
