New Government Digital Strategy
Published 8th March 2017
The Culture Secretary Karen Bradley has also announced the Government’s new Digital Strategy, which looks to improve the UK public’s digital skills and teach more school children how to code. The Design and Technology Association has welcomed the strategy but urged Government to broaden its scope of “digital skills” to mean more than “computing.” We have argued that it is just as important to understand the digital technologies that are revolutionising the modern workplace. Skills such as computer aided design (CAD), computer numerical controlling, 3D printing and laser-cutting are just as critical as coding. Design and Technology can play an essential role in helping to develop awareness and understanding of these new technologies.
