MAKE the most of it

Manufacturers will be opening their doors for a UK wide Open House to be held on National Manufacturing Day - 7th July 2022. Local communities will have the chance to explore potential careers and a range of exciting jobs on offer within the incredibly diverse manufacturing sector.
The main goal of the event is to engage with all age groups - from school children, school leavers, graduates, people looking to reskill and local residents. Make UK will be looking to work with schools to encourage them to visit their local manufacturers, get a tour and speak to apprentices and other team members and also take part in STEM activities, lesson plans and assemblies that demystify manufacturing.
For Make UK and manufacturers, it offers an opportunity to showcase the sector, the range of highly skilled jobs on offer and the amazing opportunities for reskilling and career development within manufacturing in the UK. They will also demonstrate the value of a manufacturing apprenticeship as an alternative route post school/college, and specifically promote these opportunities to women and other minority groups in the sector.
On the day itself, there will be events at their Technology Hub in Birmingham, to showcase how to start a career in the manufacturing sector.
Make UK will showcase how people can visit member companies who sign up to take part via a dedicated micro site. Each company signing up to take part will run events such as tours and offer bespoke talks from members of their team demonstrating the exciting possibilities a career in manufacturing offers.
This will be a collaborative sector wide initiative. Members of the public will be able to search for local opportunities available on National Manufacturing Day using a postcode finder embedded within their microsite.
