Exploring the "Inspired by Industry" Member-only Resources

Published 30th September 2024

Inspired By Industry is a set of free design contexts/challenges designed for Key Stage 3 D&T. Each focuses on a different area and is created with a real company or designer who have also tackled this or a similar problem. Each of these contexts contains a wealth of useful material including videos, worksheets, teachers’ notes.

D&T Association members will also access a wealth of supporting units; focused tasks (FTs) and investigative and evaluative activities (IEAs). These editable resources are aligned to the KS3 National Curriculum and D&T Progression Framework, providing you with high quality, contextualised D&T resources to use in school.

For members, the suggested focused tasks, investigative activities, and evaluation exercises—are provided as full resources. These invaluable time-savers are created to link directly to the context and help to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in a variety of areas. These 'Supporting Units' now total 50+ and there are more uploaded regularly!

Additionally, we realise that teachers, and students, may also need the basics of drawing, designing, technical knowledge etc. so we are also developing more generic resources called ‘Curriculum Units’. Our members can access these guides and tutorials which can be used independently of the contexts and, when combined with the Supporting Units and Contexts, will provide all you need to support your students as they develop their contextual design skills.

With all these resources at our members disposal, and the handy curriculum planning template provided, you can edit them to create your own unique KS3 curriculum in your school to engage and inspire your students, inspired by industry.
