F1 in Schools teams from WMG Academy and Emmanuel College travelled to Silverstone to compete in the National Finals, with places at the World Finals in Malaysia up for grabs.
The competition was set over two days in the prestigious Silver wing above the pits at the famous formula one circuit, which involved thirty six teams from around the U.K battling it out with best and brightest young engineers in the country.
Teams were judged on five disciplines; Design & Engineering, Enterprise, Marketing, Racing and verbal presentation in which they scored 100 % a feat never achieved before in F1 in Schools anywhere. At the award ceremony they were awarded the Innovative Thinking award with WMG Academy coming 1st and Emmanuel College coming 3rd which means both teams qualify for the F1 in Schools World final in Malaysia this September.
Emmanuel College are looking for sponsors and grants to help in raising money so they can attend this life changing experience and look forward to a career in engineering. Contact Steve Thomas on thomass@emmanuelctc.org.uk if you would like to sponsors team Unity.
