Insights

For D&T teachers and students, New Blades provides an invaluable insight into the creative and technical possibilities of model making as a career. Graduates and university tutors will be available throughout the day to discuss course content, career pathways, and their experiences in the industry.

Of particular interest this year is the chance to learn more about the Model Makers Apprenticeship Standard from Foster + Partners, a new development aimed at supporting young people into skilled model-making roles and helping them gain valuable workplace experience alongside formal training.

Supported by Industry Leaders

The event is supported by many of the sector’s top employers and studios, including Foster + Partners, Leviathan Workshop, Neill’s Materials, Ogle Models, Machineshop, Merlin Magic Making, and Amalgam, among others. Their involvement showcases the continued importance of New Blades as a recruitment pipeline and celebration of new talent.

A Must for D&T Educators

For teachers teaching at Key Stage 4 and 5, New Blades offers a real-world glimpse into how creative, technical, and digital design skills are applied professionally. It’s an ideal destination for students considering careers in design, film, animation, special effects, and related industries.
