Children’s Mental Health Week 2025: Why It Matters
Published 5th February 2025
Children’s Mental Health Week, running from the 3rd to 9th February 2025, is a vital opportunity to shine a light on the well-being of young people across the UK. Organised by Place2Be, this annual initiative raises awareness of children’s mental health and provides essential resources to support young minds in schools, at home, and in communities.
This year’s theme, ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’, encourages children to develop self-awareness as a foundation for growth and resilience. Understanding emotions, strengths, and challenges empowers young people to navigate life’s ups and downs with confidence. With support from The Walt Disney Company, Place2Be has introduced engaging resources featuring beloved characters from Pixar’s Inside Out films to help children explore their emotions in a relatable and accessible way.
At the Design & Technology Association, we recognise the crucial role mental well-being plays in a child’s education and development. Creative subjects such as design and technology provide young people with valuable opportunities to express themselves, problem-solve, and build confidence in their abilities. By fostering innovation and hands-on learning, D&T can serve as a meaningful outlet for children to manage stress and develop a sense of achievement.
With a rising number of pupils requiring additional support for mental health challenges, it is more important than ever to ensure schools have the resources they need to prioritise well-being. Children’s Mental Health Week provides free activities, assembly plans, and fundraising ideas to help educators and parents engage young people in meaningful conversations about mental health.
By supporting initiatives like Children’s Mental Health Week, we can work together to create a society where every child has the opportunity to thrive. To learn more and access free resources, visit www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk.
