Only RDTHSC's that expressed interest in obtaining the PHS accreditation last year will be eligible to book onto this course.


This one day, ‘hands-on’ course, will enable delegates to develop the skills, techniques and confidence needed to teach D&T safely and competently in primary schools. Areas covered during the course include, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, planning, and practical skills, techniques and processes. Under the guidance of a registered health and safety consultant, delegates will learn how to use a variety of age-appropriate tools, equipment and materials correctly and safely, gaining knowledge and understanding to take back to school and support colleagues’ practice in KS1 and KS2.

 By the end of the one day course, each delegate will;

• Be awarded nationally recognised certification/accreditation through the D&TA scheme
• Learn new or developed existing practical skills/techniques and produced a working practical outcome
• Be confident in using a range of tools, equipment and materials with children in D&T lessons, including classroom organisation and the managing of materials and equipment.
• Be aware of health and safety requirements and know how to complete and adapt risk assessments and COSHH assessments to ensure the safe delivery of D&T activities in schools

 
No prior knowledge is required for attendance at this course.
