Teaching Experience
I have taught in primary schools for over 25 years and had full time classteacher responsibilities in a variety of year groups across both Key Stage One and Two. I have held various senior leadership roles in rural and urban schools in Cambridgeshire and North Somerset and in every school have led and developed D&T.
Curriculum Design
Since establishing my consultancy, I have been employed by the Design and Technology Association as Curriculum Design Lead for the Oak Academy Primary D&T Curriculum and had the fortune to work alongside some inspiring colleagues to produce a national research-based curriculum for schools.
CPD
I have worked with several Cambridge based primary schools delivering individualised CPD sessions and successfully launched D&T Imagineers to some amazing pupils who thoroughly enjoy the subject of D&T and are a pleasure to work with.
Higher Education
I have delivered D&T sessions to EY and Primary PGCE students at the Faculty of Education University of Cambridge for several years and recently became a tutor for a local SCITT and associate lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, Peterborough. I thoroughly enjoy working with trainees not just in D&T but promoting teacher standards and primary education.
Academic history
I attained a 2:1 BEd (Hons) Primary Education with Design and Technology from the University of Exeter in 1997 and a Distinction in an MEd from the University of Cambridge in 2021, my dissertation focusing upon teacher perceptions of critical thinking within D&T. Since then, my work has been published in a professional journal, presented at an international conference and published within an international journal. I am now currently completing a PhD part time at the University of Cambridge exploring the role of gendered views on critical thinking in primary D&T education.
I hope I can support you and your establishment with any of the above skills and experience and look forward to working with you.
