Design and Technology Education has the power to positively impact young people and prepare them for the fast changing world in which we live.
Driven by a passion to educate combined with a unique breadth of experience I have inspired individual staff, led action in my team and planned in detail for any and all issues on the day.
I have a proven track record of working across whole school issues.
I have a Design and Technology Education Degree with QTS, attained in 1999 when opportunities followed to excel in teaching and leading Design and Technology in Secondary Schools in Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
In 2004 I completed a Masters in Education with my focus being on “Assessment for Learning” within Design and Technology. I am now studying for a PhD in Design and Technology Education.
Working with trainees is particularly enjoyable as we grow and nurture their talent. Currently I’m involved in delivering subject specific PGCE training at UOB alongside holding the position of Head of Department in a local school in Bedford.

To keep fresh and up-to-date I mark exam papers for several boards. This was extended to moderating students' work with colleagues from other schools and trusts during the pandemic and this is something which I continue to do both locally and nationally.
Bespoke CPD or support is another extension task for me. Recent examples include teaching classes due to emergency staff absence, supporting colleagues to structure KS4 or KS5 courses, delivering Inset on how to train students for excellent exam performance and delivering Inset on how to get the best out of your student during the NEA.
