Jim Stewart

Jim studied and practiced as a designer and craftsman before training as a teacher, where he retired from leading the Technology Faculty in a secondary school in 2022, having just successfully lead the curriculum area through the new Ofsted framework.

In his time within secondary, further and university education, Jim has had varied experiences. These include leading on skills transfers within Knowledge Transfer Partnerships between education and industry, writing on design history, to having taught craft and manufacture to featured leading designers now appearing in Designing. He has spent many years developing strategies, so as those in a Special Needs environment could successfully access the National Curriculum.

Jim has a wealth of experience in how to help others to safely develop their skills in the workshop environment, either to develop their own or others of all levels and ability. But now he splits his time between Consultancy, Health and Safety Training, assessing apprentices in the wood trades and occasional furniture making and wood turning.

Being based in South Bucks Jim is ideally located to offer training in the Northern Home Counties and the Northwest London Boroughs, though currently he works across Southern England.
